Turnkey industrial relocation solution/Industrial relocation project manager

Challenge
When a key supplier in Germany became insolvent, our Tier 1 automotive client had to relocate three complete production lines to its plant in Hungary immediately.
The relocation included production machinery, tooling, equipment and production materials. Everything had to be transferred safely, coordinated across multiple parties and completed within an extremely tight deadline, while the scope of the project continued to change.
The main challenges included:
- relocating three complete production lines within just three days,
- coordinating machinery, tooling and production materials across borders,
- adapting to last-minute changes in scope and transport requirements,
- managing on-site logistics and communication throughout the relocation,
- preparing the new location for the next phase of production.
GQ solution
Our team managed every stage of the project, from transport planning to on-site coordination, ensuring that production assets arrived safely and on schedule despite continuous changes during execution.
Key activities included:
- coordinating the relocation of three complete production lines,
- managing the transport of 105 pallets of production materials (45 tonnes),
- organizing the transfer of 50 pallets of machinery, tooling and production equipment (6 tonnes),
- coordinating four trucks and all on-site relocation activities,
- adapting the relocation plan to last-minute scope changes and additional equipment,
- maintaining continuous communication between the client, transport providers and on-site teams.
Result
- successful relocation of three complete production lines in just three days,
- safe transfer of all production materials, machinery and tooling,
- seamless on-site coordination despite changing project requirements,
- completion of the relocation within the required deadline.
The client immediately asked us to manage the production line assembly at the new location.
Successful production line relocation is about more than moving equipment
A production line relocation is a business continuity project, not just a logistics task. It requires fast decision-making, precise planning, clear communication and complete ownership from start to finish. This project proved that when time is critical, an experienced turnkey team can keep production moving, even under exceptional circumstances.
